Edwards as well as O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Head Coach Contenders

Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the team's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have previous links to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is considered a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a surprising choice considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
