Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
